Fujicolor C200 vs. Kodak Ultramax
The ultimate cheap stocks for 35mm (here in Australia at least) are Kodak Ultramax 400 and Fujicolor C200, you can find them just about anywhere - easily found at a Kmart of JB Hi-Fi.
I recently shot a role of each on my point and shoot (the Canon Autoboy TELE) and found that, to my taste at least, it’s a fairly uneven competition. For me Fujicolor is undoubtedly the way to go, being the more versatile of the two with its dynamic range and better economical factor given that the canister holds 36 shots, whilst most Ultramax rolls you find around have only 24 shots.
I made a video about the experience which I recommend you watch first, then scroll down and take a look at the pictures for yourself and see what you think about the different stocks.
